Safair, quite the cheap airline. Perhaps if they charged a little more, they could employ more competent check-in personnel at Cape Town International
Today Safair proved to be a cheap airline. Something they make an effort to remind the nation.
I have had the misfortune of booking two Safair tickets from Cape Town to Durban for today at 07.00. Having arrived to check in on time, we were met with long lines that moved far too slowly.
To my shock, not all check-in counters had personnel which delayed many passengers, especially since the queues were so long.
There seemed to be far little control from the manager who was totally useless. She walked around, in true management style, looking busy and doing little if anything to assist the people in the queues. Surely she would have been sensible enough, being the manager on the floor to troubleshoot more efficiently. Clearly this was not the case.
What upset me the most is when we got to the front of the line, the staff member informed us that boarding is closed and we cannot fly home. She then asked us to go spend even more money to rebook or place ourselves on standby.
I then went to the manager, I think her name is Busiwe (I stand to be corrected) who seemed disinterested in what I was saying. She did not seem to be adequately comprehending my concern and seemed to lack the vocabulary and communication s****s to empathise with how we were feeling and the current situation or even remotely offer some assistance, she did however pull out her phone and look at it a lot. She did however, excel at turning us away, what a travesty. Another *********** manager earning a salary to literally do nothing, but look busy.
She was flawless however in placing a lot of the blame on the staff member Adrian who is supposed to walk around and usher passengers on immediate flights to the correct check in counter. He however seemed even more *********** than the already pathetic manager.
He spent about 20 minutes on talking to other staff members who seemed to be wasting Safair money (as they too were meant to get passengers on the flights on time) and 5 minutes in helping one passenger. He a lot more concerned on his attire and the sash that he was wearing. Surely he didn't think that he was parading in a pageant.
Booking Safair has been the worst experience. Had you not been the only airline to have two available tickets for the flight home, I would not, like so many waste my time on such an airline with such *********** staff. I laugh to hear that you are the official carrier of a national sporting team.
Perhaps management can look into this matter and maybe appraise your staff as they truly lack the quality to provide even a satisfactory service as they don't come close to providing a good one. I choose these words wisely as I was one of about fifteen odd passengers who were at the Safair counter rebooking. Perhaps this is the norm, I mean this level of incompetence can help Safair generate additional revenue as passenger are locked into Safair at this juncture and will have to fork out more to rebook.
Please note that I refer to the Safair check-in personnel and manager at Cape Town International and would not like to label all personnel at Safair nationwide.
I do also write as I do not want others to experience the frustration and lack of a quality service that Safair Cape Town has rewarded me with for attempting to fly with them.
