Poor service at check in counter - OR Tambo International
Serious complaint regarding the check in service at OR Tambo International Ariport.
On Tuesday, 25 June 2019, my wife was at the check in counter for flight FA-200 to Cape Town 45 minutes before flight departure. She had no check in luggage, there was no queue at the counter, and was within the timeframe for check in as per the airline policy.
She was however, denied check in and boarding, and was told that the check in for that specific flight closed at 04:45, which is a full hour and 10 minutes before departure time. This caused her to miss her flight, another flight had to be booked which cost R2000, and she ended up being an hour late for a crucuial interview.
I have flown FlySafair in the past, and been extremely impressed with the service, but being denied boarding on was unjustified, and unproffessional.
Of course we could have avoided the situation be doing an on-line check in, but that does not give the airline the right to treat people in such a manner.
My wife is 9 weeks pregnant, and flying is already stressful without these situations. In the eyes of the company who paid for the ticket, we might look very unproffessional.
Not impressed FlySafair. You are only ever as good as the last service you provided.
