Only 50% refund even with Dr. instruction not to fly

Be 100% sure before you buy a ticket that you don't have any medical emergency, which on a doctors advise you not allowed to fly... unless you happy to accept only 50% refund.

I paid R10 000+- for 2 tickets, over the 2 oceans weekend coming up. However, due to a medical emergency my partner had to undergo an operation on the 23rd. This all came to light within a week of finding out as it urgent and life threatening at the time.

I then requested to cancel my flights on the 23rd when all this came to light. After numerous e-mails someone finally called to explain this is in their Ts and Cs, that was the only answer they had. Apparently, my case was reviewed by higher management, who deemed the Dr. letters stipulating she cannot fly for 6 weeks, not sufficient to warrant a 100% refund.

What are you guys smoking and how do you think this is fair hiding behind Ts and Cs, there is no humanness in this. I will cancel that ticket and you guys will sell it, at a higher rate, within a couple of days most likely as a lot of people will be flying down for 2 oceans, people are waiting for cancellations!!!

Please explain on this public platform how you justify this. We need the money to help with the cost we are incurring following the operation. Don’t hide behind Ts and Cs, justify why you feel you are right with your stance when you fully know you will be able to sell that ticket, and it will be more expensive than what I paid. You will essentially be keeping my 50%, R5000+- and make more money selling them at the higher rate… it’s about money as simple as that! Please explain how TCF (Treating clients fairly) is app**** here?

I’m not cancelling because I want to, I have to, my partner cannot fly for medical reasons, I need to be here to help as she’s not mobile at present. I cannot move the ticket as 2 oceans won’t move along with our flight dates. I will await your reply VIA e-mail as per the lady I spoke to earlier but would also like to see your reply on a public forum explaining how you guys justify this.
