No compensation for broken suitcase

I travelled from Johannesburg to Cape Town on Safair and when I checked my bag in at the airport, it was in complete working order. When I arrived in CT, the loops that allow the suitcase to be locked were broken with the result that I will no longer be able to use the suitcase as I can no longer lock it. This is Safair's response: Other conditions: other conditions relating to the carriage of your Baggage. We will not accept any liability for scratches, cosmetic or minor damage to Baggage, including but not limited to damage to wheels, zips and locks, nor for any items protruding from Baggage, such as handles or trolleys; What they are saying is that if your suitcase is damaged to an extent that you can't use it anymore (broken zip, handle, etc), they won't accept any responsibility. Something to be aware of before you fly Safair.
