Jewellery ****** on Flight from OR Tambo to Cape Town
Theft from my cabin baggage on Flight FA207 on 17 February 2026 from Cape Town to OR Tambo. At boarding, my carry-on luggage was removed from me due to limited overhead space and placed in the airline’s custody. I did not voluntarily check the bag. Upon opening the bag on 20 February 2026, actually my birthday, I discovered that my jewellery pouch was empty. I opened a case at the SAPS and sent all the info to the airline. They promised to investigate and get back to me. Every time I enquire, I get the same response. It was my favourite jewellery and not even expensive at all. I sent them the prices and said the prices might change if you stall it. I even asked if they would just want to replace the items since I am going to buy the exact items. Until now no response from Feb. I have been waiting for 3 months! They are still investigating and hoping I will fade away. Well, I don't have the money to replace it, and every photo of me I look at for special occasions, I was wearing that. Makes me so upset!
SAFAIR emailed me immediately after they got an email from Hello Peter. Thanks, Hello Peter.
Sadly, the same lady who I communicated with the first time emailed me, she did not have a clue who I am, did not know I sent a case number, and informed me that they will have to investigate!
3 months later! Again, there is NO TIMELINE...
And the best for last...I should claim from my insurance! I told her that is the reason insurance is so damn expensive, because the airline wouldn't take responsibility for *****ing staff.
I was caught by a well-run ****, and the employer turns a blind eye!
