Huge trustworthiness problem at SAFAIR
I booked 2 tickets (two seperate bookings) for the 1st of April on the same Flight FA 205 of Safair Booking references RTAPGO and VITCCR. The evening when the people I booked for arrived at the airport, they both found that their flights were changed to an earlier flight. They both had to buy new tickets and could only get flights the next day, which was very inconvenient. I claimed a refund from Safair but Safair claims that they did give them notice via emails, as per terms and conditions. Both passengers afterwards found the emails in their spam boxes. I feel that the least an airline can do when changing a flight, is to at least make sure that the passenger get the notice regarding the change. Costumers get loads of (adverti*****t) emails from Safair which no normal person has time to read through every day, and in most cases land in spam boxes. What worries me is that at that same weekend 3 other people's (I know of), flights were changed to very inconvenient times. They eventually had to take extra days leave at their work. Are we going to land up in a situation where you simply cannot afford to trust that your flight will be as planned? We all have sympathy with airlines because of the Covid situation, but it cannot change tendencies of trustworthiness. For that reason I stand by my claim to get a refund. It will not compensate in any way for the inconvenience, but hopefully that will bring my argument to the front for the consumer's sake. Just for the record, I did take this up with Safair's support department in numerous emails(request ***), but they simply refer to their terms and conditions which they claim is their only liability.
