FlySafair - pathetic
On 6 January I booked tickets for my family to Johnnesburg from Cape Town on 12 January where we were due to get a connecting onward flight. On the morning of 11 of January when I attempted to check in I discovered that the flight had been moved so it would no longer be possible to make the connection. ZERO notification from the airline whatsoever. Only after I called Safair to cancel the tickets when I couldn't check in did they send me a notification at 11.56am the day before departure! Obviously I was forced to cancel but Safair saw fit to retain 30% of the fare which is absolutely outrageous. To blame it on the level 3 lockdown is disingenuous because that was instituted in mid December and I booked these tickets on 6 January 2021. By comparison, I had the same issue with Kulula and received a 100% refund and in the end we flew on Mango. Safair like to brag that it is the most punctual airline in South Africa - maybe that's due to the fact that they cancel/move flights with no notice. I certainly did not want a voucher because I will NEVER fly on this airline again and nor will any employee. It does not deserve to be in a service industry.
