Flysafair demonstrates lack of compassion for its passengers

I was unfortunate to be on FA 127 that departed from OR Tambo at 18h35 on 28th July 2024, bound for Cape Town. it was the night that Cape Town International airport experienced a power failure (internal ACSA fault) and was forced to divert to PE airport. The entire ordeal lasted 9 hours, from time of embarkation in Joburg (18h05) - to landing at 03h10 on the Monday morning. While one cannot blame the airline for the failure of the runway lights, the actions of the airline, particularly during the lengthy 4 hour layover in PE are concerning. Flysafair at no point demonstrated any consideration for the comfort of passengers, instead they continued peddling any snacks left on their trolleys. With a four-hour layover, where all passengers were unable to leave the aircraft due to the unavailability of stairs, the airline did not even make an effort to provide free water to the passengers, noting that there were diabetics, elderly/frail as well as infant passengers on board. When I enquired about this I was firstly told they had run out of water and when I suggested they get some at the airport I was told that there was no staircase or a caterer available at that time of night. one passenger asked to buy food with cash, only to be told that it is not the airline's policy to take cash, only cards. It is this inflexibility and lack of compassion that has prompted me to write this review. I wrote to the airline via their website - the day after this ordeal, only to be responded to by an AI autobot. This is as demeaning as getting no response. Your airline needs to refocus - passengers and their needs come first, your profits are secondary.
