FlySafair

I had an abysmal experience with FlySafair airline on Monday, April 1st. Despite arriving promptly for my flight, I found myself stuck in excruciatingly long queues at the airport. As time ticked away, I made the difficult decision to exit the queue to alert the staff that I was at risk of missing my flight. Little did I know, this would be the start of a nightmare.

Upon informing a staff member of my predicament, I was casually informed that the check-in for my luggage had already closed, leaving me in a state of panic. Desperately seeking a solution, I inquired about leaving my bag for someone to collect it, only to receive vague and unhelpful responses. Despite being assured that I could still catch my flight, no one bothered to mention that I needed to check in first before seeking assistance with my bag.

Frantically racing to the ticket desk and explaining my situation, I was met with indifference and incompetence. Despite explaining that someone was on their way to collect my bag, I was bluntly informed that no one would assist me and that I had missed my flight. Shocked and bewildered, I was left with no guidance or support from FlySafair staff.

After reluctantly purchasing another ticket for the following day, I arrived at the check-in counter only to be met with another headache. My bag, which I had meticulously weighed at home and found to be 19kg, suddenly registered at a whopping 30kg on FlySafair's scales. Confused and frustrated, I contemplated unpacking and redistributing my belongings.

In a last-ditch effort to avoid further delays, I begrudgingly paid the exorbitant excess baggage fee, only to be astounded when another check-in point miraculously registered my bag at 23kg - 7kg lighter? It's evident that not only does FlySafair lack basic customer service and support, but their scales are also suspect, leaving customers at the mercy of their whims.
