Fly SAFAIR does not care about sickness, safety or COVID

I was most disturbed at a passenger being repeatedly sick on a flight I was on last night.

Flight FA 263 19:30 from King Shaka to ORT.

The crew said it was only because he was drunk, but with COVID-19, having a passenger, hot, flushed, in obvious distress and vomiting repeatedly (all COVID symptoms) on an aircraft is an unacceptably high risk.

I was shocked that he was not put off the aircraft in Durban as he was walking up and down the aisle and being sick in the toilet prior to the plane taxiing for takeoff. That's right, the plane had not moved when he was first sick.

This was repeated during take-off, during the flight and yet again during landing.

Apart from the aircraft safety protocols being ignored, having a passenger walk repeatedly around the aircraft covered in vomit is unacceptable.

Allowing him to leave before anyone else is allowed to stand and letting him vomit over the air bridge rendering it unusable and contaminated is also unacceptable.

I trust the arrival gate and aircraft have been placed into lock down in preparation for deep cleaning.

Whilst the vomiting may only be due to intoxication, it could also be due to COVID-19 and now 2 international airport transport hubs and an entire crew, plane and its passenger have been compromised.

In his defence, the Captain stated he was not informed of the obviously sick passenger or the vomiting prior to taxiing and take-off. Surely this is a transgression of aircraft safety?

Why have I not been officially informed of my potential exposure to COVID-19?

Where is the contact track and tracing?

I am now self-isolating at home and expect the crew, cleaning crew and all other passengers to be doing the same until SAFAir informs me that my exposure was only to vomit splatter and not COVID-19.

Does this now mean in future, do I ignore the heath decoration sections asking about COVID-19 symptoms such as nausea and elevated temperatures?

I write to yourselves as I believe your airport may have been compromised as regards COVID-19. I have written to SAFAIR, but with no response. In fact, the flight Captain said he considered the incident was closed and no persons were at risk because we disembarked from the rear of the plane. I believe being forced to "shut up and sit down" for over 5 minutes in an unventilated aircraft which may have been contaminated with a potentially deadly airborne disease is not a subject that should be covered up. I wrote this note to Fly SA fair and various ORT senior management, but I have received no response. The closest to a response was from the Airports Company of SA ACCSA. They said they would reply within 3 working days - so long after any spread of COVID.
