Falling baggage rough landing

Flew out from Durban and as we were landing the pilot got the runway so hard and fast a few of the overhead baggage compartments opened and luggage fell on people. While the plane was at tremendous speed on the run way people were getting out of seats to try close the overheads and pick up fallen luggage. No flight Attendant helped I think maybe cause non saw it or cared.
