Dynamics of Accountability

As we all read about the Flysafair in National Newspapers regarding their aviation recipy to success vs the bankruptcy of Mango, Comair and a few others... Be warned.. On Sunday 2023-08-20 I was scheduled to depart with FA122 at 17h30 to OR Tambo International for my connection flight on ET858 at 23h00 to Ethiopia and again from thr with ET352 to Juba, South Sudan. Everything went as planned till boarding of FA122 where we wad told verbally that the flight was delayed for 30minutes due to a technical fault(replacement of batteries).. However soon after the announcement we was bused to the awaiting aircraft where it became quite clear with all the technitians onboard that the 'Battery Problem' had escalate to something more serious. At 7pm and still on the aircraft the Captain announced that the flight was canceled.. He also explain that we will return to the departure building where new arrangements will be announced.. Back at the terminal building I was informed that Flysafair(or any other Carrier) cannot bring me at OR Tambo International on time for my departure to Ethiopia at 23h00.. I was however given the option to be accommodated on another Carrier flight but with a midnight arrival in OR Tambo. Due to the fact that I had already checked in online for my ET858 flight the dinamics of accountability become quite a stressful and costly affair.. Take note that my Hotel in Juba was pre-booked and payed for arrival on the 21 of Aug. Ethiopian Air was willing after telephonic conversation with ground crew of Flysafair to fly me out of JHB on Monday at 7am but then Flysafair was requested to pay my sleepover in Johannesburg.. Flysafair had continuesly refer to their policy on cancelations or delays... Unfortunately thay can only reschedule the flight of refund me the local ticket cost.. I was in essence forced to accept the rescheduling of my local flight to OR Tambo on Monday the 21st of August with a huge cost implication on the reschedule of my International flight.. Long story short.. I did read the Flysafair Rules on Cancelations and Delays on Monday.. And yes it state clearly that they only responsible for the arrangement between point A and B... On the other hand, when I ruminate on the fact that I Trust and Believed in Flysafair then this ordeal left a very bitter tast....
