Christmas morning and great holiday ruined

This morning, Christmas morning, my wife, 4 year old daughter and I flew back to George from Johannesburg after an enjoyable honeymoon in Gauteng. All 3 of us shared one suitcase.

We flew down with Mango and the only addition to our luggage was my little daughter's Christmas presents. The weight of this bag was 33kg after being wrapped. The lady at the check in counter refused to let us check in the bag because it was 1kg over weight. After consulting with her "manager" we were instructed to reduce the weight of our bag to 30kg.

I told the lady that the bag is wrapped and we would have to go and buy another bag which i had no idea were to find as I am not from there, at possibly huge expence to reduce the weight as requested - and that in front of all other passengers. This with the burdon of our plane departing in less than 20 minutes.

Eventually after great embarresment to my family, we were allowed to proceed. We just made it to the plane on time but we were not able to enjoy a small breakfast on Christmas morning nor were we able to buy our little girl some sweets for the 2 hour flight to George.

We were not aware of a 32kg weight restriction on our bags nor was it ever a problem with other airlines as we just had to pay in for checking in an over weight bag. Which we offered to do.

The attitude and unhelpfullness of your rude staff and the schene caused by them made us feel like common ********* and this on Christmas morning. They were unfriendly and unwilling to assist in this situation. They wanted us to unpack in front of all the other passengers. We fly alot as a family for pleasure and business and this is the first time i decided to use this airline. I will definately not recommend this to anyone else as they ruined an otherwise great holiday. We felt like common *********.
