Checked in suitcase got sopping wet with rain at Cape Town airport

I flew from Cape Town airport to Lanseria on 28 June. It was raining in Cape Town (which happens regularly in winter). No precautions were taken into consideration for our checked in baggage to be kept out the rain. When I received my luggage, everything inside my suitcase was wet. If the rain happens frequently in Cape Town surely there should be a regular protocol to protect baggage from getting wet. And, I understand the airline is supposedly low cost. But the seats are incredibly uncomfortable. I’ve been a passenger in a bus with seats that are more comfortable
