Cheated out of a flight
On Saturday (21 May 2022) I was made to turn around before a flight and denied entrance onto the plane because I did not have my ID with me. Prior to this particular incident, I remembered that I do not have my ID and made means to find out how would I then make it onto the flight without one. Mind you, I do have a copy of my ID, clear as day, on my phone, barcode and all. Anyway, so I was informed that an affidavit along with the electronic copy would suffice. After having acquired the affidavit, I am now content that I have dodged a bullet. Gosh golly, how wrong I was. When it was my turn to board, the lady attending to me requests my ID and I inform her that I do not have it in my possession. She then signals a gentleman standing to the side that I do not have an ID. I get pulled to the side and he then, as if maybe he didn't hear, also requests my ID and I, again, inform him that I do not have it with me. He then asks, where is it (as if any answer to that question would make this situation better) then I tell him that I forgot it at home. I proceed to tell him that I do, nonetheless, have a digital copy of the ID and an affidavit. He then says to me, he needs a physical copy of the ID as well as the affidavit. I told him that I do not have a physical copy of the ID but a digital one as well as an affidavit because I was told that that would suffice and he says that whomsoever told me that gave me the wrong information. So now I am getting agitated because all of this is not making sense to me. I ask the gentleman whether they keep this copy that they want so badly and he answers and says why would they keep, it is my identification then I ask what the difference is then. Whether I have an electronic copy or a digital copy should not make a difference because it is not like they keep the page they want me to have. He then hides behind that, it is their rules and are in the terms and conditions that they want a paper copy of the ID. After some back and forth and out of anger I leave the boarding gate before I throw a proper tantrum and embarrass everybody especially myself. Later on, I review these terms and conditions and discover that the very same terms and conditions state as follows:

I put in the asterisks for the sake of showing what they say since I cannot bold it.
Anyway, as can be seen, their terms and conditions state that all those forms of identification OR an affidavit. I have now lost out on the price of a flight because of wording and the fact that FlySafair does not teach their staff the difference between "or" and "and". I am extremely appalled by the manner this situation was handled and for the fact that I basically gave FlySafair free money because they do not acknowledge the legitimate and, quite frankly, simple use of electronics as a form of identification.
