1 day promotion 50% off booking

Why when I make a booking on the 23rd December 2015 to fly Johannesburg to Cape Town for 3 adults on the 19th August and return I am not given the 50% off as is advertised on the promotion. Now the promotion is finished and I suppose I've lost out because the system would not allocated the promotion.
