Be Careful who you book your Airline tickets with.

COVID-19 seems to be an excuse for almost anything that goes wrong! I had a flight booked and paid for with CEM Air,07:00hrs on Friday 15th January from George to Johannesburg. Bring a pro active type of person I called the Airline on Monday 11th January considering the curfew restrictions to ask if there would be any changes to the flight. I was told they did not have any new instruction from management but would contact me if there would be changes. I received a call on Wednesday 13th January around 17:30hrs informing me due to *operational reasons* the flight would now be departing at 14:30hrs on 15th January. As I had an international flight on the same day at 12:30hrs I told the reservation agent that this arrangement was not going to work for me, and what other options did I have. 1. No other flights available, not even offered a flight on the 14th 2. I could cancel the flight and pay R500 cancellation fee 3. I could take a Voucher valid for one year to use on another flight.

So I had to book another flight (Kulula)at my expense, on the 14th January, Book a hotel in JNB Airport for the night at my own expense to be sure of getting my international flight on the 15th

If I had not done that I would have missed my international flight, my Negative Covid 19 Test certificate would have been invalid by the time I could have flown out of JNB which I had paid R850 for, and would then also have had to buy new flights back to Dar es Salaam.

We all understand during this Pandemic life isa bit different for us all, but the government need to put some controls on these companies, why would I have to pay R500 to cancel a ticket, the airline itself cancelled, and no compensation or customer service, Would I fly with them again ? Would I recommend CEM Air? I don't think so !
