I genuinely thought Float was a convenient "buy now, pay later" option like Payflex or PayJustNow. Based on their marketing, it seemed like a flexible way to manage payments over time. But after using the service, I realised that’s not the case at all. Instead of spreading out payments, Float took the full amount from the available credit on the card immediately — and then just turned it into a budget plan. That’s something banks already offer, so involving a third party like Float felt unnecessary and honestly, a bit deceptive.
What frustrated me most is how unclear everything was. If I had known the full amount would be deducted upfront, I would’ve just paid it once myself. The whole reason people choose BNPL services is because we have our own financial plans — this completely threw mine off, especially when it comes to managing household expenses.
To make things worse, the credit card I used wasn’t even mine — it belongs to my younger brother, and now I’ve had to deal with explaining charges that I myself didn’t fully understand at first. It’s stressful, and I feel like this whole experience could have been avoided with clearer communication from Float.
Customer service has also been very disappointing. There's no urgency, no proper assistance, and no effort to really support their users. Honestly, I would not recommend Float to anyone. It’s been a frustrating experience from start to finish. I wish I had checked reviews on HelloPeter before trying it out — now I know better.
Float, you really need to improve your transparency and customer care. This wasn’t fair to me or anyone else who expected something different from what was delivered.
Best regards,
