Shocking ultimatum - travel by 31 Dec or else!
I booked flights to Thailand for myself & my kids in 09/2019 (departing 23/03/2020) - obviously we couldn't fly as Covid restrictions were enforced on 18/03/2020! At the time we were told that we'd get travel vouchers (that have to be used by 31/12/2021) but a number of factors are preventing us from travelling and the basic response I'm getting is the equivalent of "sorry to hear about your problem, but our hands are tied" - Am I supposed to be happy to just "lose ± R24K) and is this the TCF strategy!?!

We truly appreciate the opportunity afforded to ensure that no stone was left unturned, in pursuing more flexibility around the current credit with the airline. We would always make every effort to motivate on our customers' behalf, however, as the credit is held by the airline, the conditions stipulated in terms of rebooking travel will be completely within their control.
We have escalated the request for an extension in light of your circumstances and deeply regret that the outcome previously shared had remained unchanged. Had we been in the position to change the credit validity we would not hesitate to do so.
