Ill-informed staff and a frustrated client!

I went to my local Flight Centre to book tickets for a flight DUR ELS DUR, departing on Sunday, returning Thursday. The agent informed me that there were no direct flights to ELS, and we would have to fly via JNB! I queried this over and over in disbelief. I had no option but to believe her, and the final price was just under R9000.00 for two adults. Quite shocking. We spent the entire Sunday travelling (delayed flight in one instance), and eventually reached our final destination at 19.15, after leaving home at 10.00. We then found out that there were indeed direct flights DUR ELS via SAFAIR at reasonable rates. I contacted the branch manager and explained the situation, and she informed me that there were no direct flights on a Sunday on SAFAIR, hence the stopover in JNB. I had already checked the parameters on SAFAIR, and asked her to do the same. Shock, horror I was right, and she understood my frustrations. It would seem Amadeus doesn't recognise SAFAIR??Our telecom was civilised and friendly. I did say that I had been advised to ask for a full refund of the tickets. This would be most acceptable to me. She offered me a voucher to use on my next flight booked through F C. I suggest that F C staff are better informed and trained to alleviate further shambles, and I doubt I'll be using F C in the future.
