<p>I took my bakkie in for a general service and they needed to fix an oil leak. Given that my bakkie is a 1995 Izuzu, but I service it every 10 000km or so. I take care of my bakkie and if there is a problem I have it fixed asap. When I received my bakkie back the service was done, but it was still leaking oil.</p> <p> </p> <p><br />I took it back and they had my bakkie for another day. They "fixed" the oil leak and changed me another R500.00.</p> <p> </p> <p>They also suggested that I go for an engine and chassis clean to get rid of old oil residue, which I did at the cost of R210.00. Only to discover that the bakkie still has the same leak I originally took it in for.</p> <p> </p> <p>I phoned to inform them that they in fact did not fix the oil leak and against my better judgement I took the bakkie back to them.</p> <p> </p> <p>They had my bakkie for a day at another cost of R450.00. Yet with a clean engine they could not find and fix my oil leak.</p> <p> </p> <p>I am sure they did replace the valves and gaskets that they said they did; but they were fixing things that were not broken, unnecessarily.</p> <p> </p> <p>My oil leak has remained unresolved and therefore I deduct from this that the problem has not been addressed at all.</p> <p> </p> <p>They did offer to try and fix the problem for a fourth time (assuming at another charge), needless to say I will not be taking my bakkie back to them, ever.</p> <p> </p> <p>The way I see it, is a mechanic must find the problem and fix that specific problem and not blindly start fixing thing that was not broken in the first place, resulting in unnecessary costs.</p> <p> </p> <p>My advice would be to not take your vehicle to Fix-It Car Service Centre Menlyn you might just have better luck fixing the problem yourself even if you have no idea what you are doing at all.</p>
