Fitbit charge 2 watch

My fitbit watch is not syncing,but how can I buy a watch for a year then suddenly when the warranty has expired it just stop working? Is it a strong device to last a lifetime or it lifespan is just one year? This watch was very expensive for me to just use it for one year then discard it Please help
