IF I COULD GIVE A NEGATIVE RATING, I WOULD.

If you're thinking of joining a gym, don't join this one. Fit24 Durban North is the most unprofessional business, let alone gym, I have ever come across. This gym has no management and the excuse is, "Our manager just walked out on us a couple weeks ago." Well, a couple weeks ago has actually become a couple months ago and it's really no wonder why... This gym never emails their members to let them know what is going on even though I have personally WhatsApp my email address and my partner's email address to the regional manager. I have also sent and received emails from admin and so there is no excuse for lack of communication. This gym has now closed early twice in a row and not bothered to let their members know - Thursday was due to a part of their generator missing. They said that without this part, the generator cannot run and so the gym can not provide lights - fair enough but why not email your customers to let them know you will be closing the gym over an hour early instead of letting us know when we arrive at the gym with only 20 minutes left to train? Again, on Friday... I called the gym on Friday morning to ask if they would be experiencing load-shedding and t=when this load-shedding would be. I was told that load shedding would be at 4pm - 6pm but that it would still be light enough for us to train and so we could come to gym throughout the day, as normal. This call was recorded on my side for proof of this conversation. My partner and I got to the gym at 6pm just to make sure we missed load-shedding anyway. When we arrived, there was a crowd of people outside the gym who had been advised that they could wait until 06.15pm to see if the lights come back on or they could leave now but they were not allowed into the gym even though there were members gyming inside the gym. If you are not going to let people into the gym to train then you must kick everyone out. How can you leave some people to train and not let the rest of us join? Again... no communication was sent out to any of the members - I checked with a few other members. If you're thinking of joining a gym, don't join this one. Well, a couple weeks ago has actually become a couple months ago and it's really no wonder why... This gym never emails their clients to let them know what is going on even though I have personally WhatsApp my email address and my partner's email address to the regional manager. I have also sent and received emails from admin and so there is no excuse for lack of communication. This call was recorded on my side for proof of this coversation. My partner and I got to the gym at 05.45pm. When we arrived, there was a crowd of members outside the gym who had been advised that they could either wait until 06.15pm to see if the lights come back as they had gone off (according to the staff, it might have been load-shedding and it might have been a municipal issue, which it was.) or they could leave because they were not allowed into the gym even though there were already clients gyming inside the gym. If you are not going to let people into the gym to train then you must kick everyone out, surely? How can you leave some people to train and not let the rest of us join? Again... no communication was sent out to any of the members - I checked with a few other members - where is the communication Fit24? Also... All the staff had packed up their gear and were waiting around the foyer to leave. They were not even at their station waiting in case the electricity did actually come on at 6.15pm. My partner then confronted the sales rep to ask why we are not allowed to train at other branches when our branch is experiencing issues? The sales rep agreed and made a plan with his friend from the Umhlanga branch for us to join. Very nice of the sales rep but unfair for the other members of the Durban North branch who weren't privy to the conversation and so weren't aware of this provision made. We pay the same fee at Durban North that the Umhlanga members pay at their branch but the Umhlanga branch is far superior. It has far more equipment, heavier dumbells, more machinery, and has proper rubberized flooring, not to mention a steam room and a lunge track. I have previously been in contact with the regional manager, Gert, who was so rude to me on the phone that he actually made me cry - again, I have the recorded calls. Gert phoned me to tell me he had driven all the way from PMB to Durban North just to see me - I would like to say this is a perfect example of the inefficiency of their admin staff and nowhere did anyone confirm an appointment with me. I however can not blame the admin and this was a blatant lie by Gert as there were managers meeting at the Durban North Branch and he was going to the branch despite having a meeting with me or not. When I told the other regional manager, Marcel, that his customer service was extremely unsatisfactory as I had sent him an e-mail with a few queries, as well as telephonically discussed these same queries and sent him numerous WhatsApps to follow up on my query responses, his response to my statement was, "My customer service is fine thank you." I can not and would not recommend this gym to anyone and if I didn't have to pay a cancellation fee, I would stop attending this gym immediately and go out of my way to attend Virgin active as Virgin Active is exactly the same cost at the end of the month as I not only pay monthly gym membership fees to Fit24 but I also pay R240 every month for parking. Virgin Active has 2 pools, a steam room, a sauna, 2 workout rooms, and premises 3 times the size of Fit24 not to mention a squat court and food court.
