Stick to takealot if you want to be able to easily return a faulty item.
On 27 Jan 2025 I ordered a Dell monitor from Firstshop for R12,599. On 29 Jan Firstshop delivered a monitor that as DOA. I contacted Firstshop to arrange a return, but Firstshop instead referred me to Dell. After a lengthy and repetitive correspondence with Dell, I was offered a 2nd hand refurbished unit as a replacement. This was obviously not acceptable or legal under consumer protection laws in SA. I then was sent back and forth between Dell and Firstshop and eventually was forced to find someone more senior at Firstshop via LinkedIn. Eventually after much effort Firstshop collected the monitor. I didn't head anything further and was then surprised to find that Firstshop tried to return the monitor to me again. I was told it had been delivered to my office manager, but this turned out to be untrue. Eventually on 21 February I received a refund.
