Your staff are there to teach lessons they don't understand

We opened an additional business account last year and deposited some money. From end of December the account was in debit of R21.00 and we were charged monthly penalties which and now have a balance of R-221.55. We acknowledge and accept the penalties imposed on us by not having an amount to be debit for monthly fees, this was caused by a misunderstanding on our side where we thought monthly fees would be debited through our main account. Last week we were surprised to hear from a former director saying that FNB Savannah Polokwane called her and threatened her with lawyers. This was so wrong, she resigned years ago and all the necessary paperwork was given to the bank at that time. How does FNB divulge confidential information to someone who is not a signatory? I think some laws were broken there. Have you told your lawyers about that too? When the current director and signatory inquired at Savannah Branch she was told that it is true and that FNB will only communicate with us through lawyers with regards to that account. For under R250? We also have an open and active account with FNB that is utilised on daily basis, surely the Bank could have done this differently. Our director went to back to the Plk Savannah branch today to get clarity and when it was not given she asked for the contacts of FNB's legal department, she was told that she is talking to the Legal department and needs to learn to listen because she was told about the fee structure when she opened the account. They said that this is how FNB works and even those owing less than R100 of fees are handed to lawyers. This is shocking to say the least. Your staff member then accused our director of failing to report the change of directors and that she simply used the bank card and login details of the person who resigned. This was an attack on her personal integrity. She didn't even bother to check the system and said it would also not be her fault if her colleagues didn't update things properly. We accept the responsibility of owing the bank R221.00 in banking fees and only ask for an account number to deposit that money.
