Worst bank I've ever banked with by FAR
There are so many horrible things I've experienced with them, I don't know where to begin.
I was stuck the entire December holiday without an FNB card because the branch where I was on holiday refused to issue me with a new card, after my debit card just stopped working for no reason. I also had a credit card with them which didn't work from the day I got it. After at least 3 complaint forms and 4 or 5 phone calls they were still unable to sort out the credit card error. So the entire December holiday, I had to e-wallet money to myself which was capped at R1500 a day and can't be increased. Plus I had to carry cash on me all the time, even when going to places like the beach where it was high risk areas. Yet FNB didn't care enough to make ANY plan to assist me in this matter.
I've app**** for motor finance which was turned down because there was no offer to purchase, there was also some "ethnical criteria", and apparently my credit score was low due to a lack of credit history (not bad credit). They then informed me to go to the dealership, which cost me about 3+ hours and I had to take unpaid time off of work, to get the offer to purchase. Then when I phoned them back the next day with the offer to purchase they refused to listen me, simply stating the information I received was incorrect and if my credit score was too low, there would be no way they can approve my loan. My credit score is low because I've never had account anywhere and I never take out loans. I always try to buy cash. And for this they penalize me and refuse to even hear me out. I understand if I get this treatment from some other bank but I bank with FNB and this is how they treat their own clients? I then ask the Manager who I spoke to what steps I must follow no to close my account with FNB, and his response "I don't know".
I then get spammed with personal loan sms's and notification from them (which has an interest rate of 27.75%!!). So I app**** for a personal loan for "X" amount. After wasting all that time applying, they come back with an offer saying all they can offer me as a personal loan is an amount that is literally 25% of my monthly income?! This was a fraction of what I already have in my bank account with them. What kind of reasoning is that?? Then I phone them and the person I spoke to (Bhekani) again, completely unwilling to assist me.
Another issue I have with them, is their cellphone notification. They send you notification for all your bank transactions from at least 10 or 11 different numbers. This makes it nearly impossible to track the money that went out of your account through your notifications, which makes them almost useless.
Then on my credit card I approve one transaction for X amount and they take more than 3 times as much from my account which I never authorized. So I called them to complain and they told me that my account was hacked and I must apply for a new card. So I do that, get the new card, and the very first transaction, the exact same things happens again. Turns out it's a admin fee from a third party (which was in error) that they couldn't see and they still take it from my account without any approval whatsoever! How can they allow money to leave your account if you do not approve it in any way?!
There are many other reasons not even worth wasting time to mention here.
This really has been one of the worst experiences of my life trying to deal with this bank and their employees and I just want to warn anyone who might have been considering joining FNB to strongly reconsider. When I joined FNB initially the service was great, until they had my money. Once they had my money, their customer service took a 180 degree turn.
I'm not too bothered with any response from FNB. My mind is made up that I WILL close my account with them as soon as I get time.
