Woes with FNB
I was one of the unhappy people with FNB after I moved several accounts from my former bank. My impression is that the bank is so desperately trying to be known as an innovative bank, that the customer ofter suffers like I did. I am an Attorney and opened both a business and trust account and used the Ladysmith KZN branch I also had several Estate late accounts. IN 2015 I opened an estate late account and instructed Absa bank to transfer the investment ammounts of the several accountsof the Deceased to the Estate account. It took Absa more than a year to transfer the funds. When I later wanted to draw from the account at FNB for the heir, I was told that there is no money in the account. FNB insisted that becaause the account was dormant for more than a year, it was closed and no money was received fromk Absa. I was desperate and approached the ombudsman who said that I must first deal with the banks directly, which I did. For several months the banks blamed one another and FNB insisted that it received no money. What made it extremely difficult is that FNB do not send bank statements in estate accounts and I do not have the time to sit in the bank for hours trying to get a statement. Then Absa insiste on a copy of the bank statement for the period involved. Great problems until I threatened further action. Then suddenly FNB discovered that they did receive the R480 000,00 which indeed was in the account for nearly a year before I allegedly moved the money to another dormant estate account. This a **** and bull story as It is senseless for me to have done this. Now I have endless problems trying to move the money back to the correct account. The cheque was bounced after the business manager assured me that it was what I should do. Then amazingly another official explained that the Account had not been ficaied and therefore that cheque had been bounced. I had a credit of severel hundred thousand Rand in the bank before I deposited the cheque. The amount of the bounced cheque was written back and I suddenly sat with a debit of more than R100 000,00 instead of the correct large credit on my account and I cannot get access to the credit. Now I must go and sit in the bank for the fifth time in two months trying to clear upo the incometent nonsense of the bank officials. The embarrassment for myself as a prefessional erson is incredible. What upset me most are the deliberate lies the officials told me
