Why you Shouldn't use FNB Connect

So, this ordeal stars about a year ago. I got a call from a sales consultant telling me about FNB connects unlimited bundle (unlimited voice dialing and 100 mb of data for like R400). Impressed but not convinced I told the consultant that honestly its all about the data these days, and that if there was a better amount of data on the contract I would HAPPILY take it. So clever sales person indicates that for R99 I could add a 1 gig bundle every month, and for R160 odd I could add 2 gigs (which is far less than other service providers). So I took the offer.

8 Months later... yes... you read correctly... 8 months after calling in numerous times asking what was taking so long, as I had cancelled my other contract and was patiently waiting for my sim to be delivered, I get told that they tried to deliver but I was not home (bearing in mind I live and work from home). So after a series of debates I finally get the sim after the 8 month struggle, but with the bargain I was getting I was not going to complain.

However, this is the real nail in the coffin for me. I get my sim swop done (porting) and start using the contract only to find that the signal is far less than what was promised. I was told that it runs on the Vodacom and CellC towers so because I was with Vodacom the signal would be the same... its not. I used to get 3 bars 4G consistently where I stay, now its on H and H+ never more.

Now get this, they hit me with a completely different price plan to add data to my contract!!! So I log in to my online banking to get monthly data added and BEHOLD... its more expensive than most other Internet Service Providers o.O So I call into the FNB connect customer care (which I waited over an hour on) and spoke to a consultant explaining my trouble, that I had been promised a certain data rate and that when attempting to add it on to my account it was more expensive. She then suggested I change the bundle completely... I mean really? So I request to speak to some kind of supervisor or manager and they just hang up on me.... and this has happened multiple times.

So now I strongly disuade people from using FNB connect, and will be looking to terminate all of my services with FNB quite soon if something isnt done.

No jokes or exaggerations here,

Lionel.
