Why can't I speak to my FNB branch telephonically

I phoned to speak to my FNB branch and was answered by FNB's call Centre. When I requested to be put through to a specific person at my branch I was told that I had to deal with the Call Centre. On speaking to a supervisor as I was unhappy with this arrangement and I know that my request cannot be handled by the call centre but would be referred to the branch, I was informed by a call centre supervisor that I should send an email to reques to speak to my branch and someone from my branch would contact me.

As a fairly substantial business bank account holder with FNB I find this unacceptable that in our age of modern technology a simple phone call to your local branch is not possible. What is FNB management so afraid of that one cannot call your local branch. I understand that basic account queries can be dealt with via a call centre, but my query was something I have dealt with my branch in the past and which I know the call centre cannot help me with.

The bottom line is that as a FNB customer I would like to speak to a particular person at my local branch and find it unacceptable that I cannot because FNB policy dictates I must use the call centre.
