Why bother putting a "preapproved" loan offer on online banking just to decline it?

i have very recently paid off 2 loans with fnb, without missing a single payment all these years. I have also taken up a consolidation loan with Direct Axis which is part of Fnb and paid off some store accounts. Then unexpectedly i ran into some car trouble and since i havent been able to take out insurance on it i was very happy to see a pop-up screen on my online banking profile claiming there was a preapproved loan offer for me. I simply wanted to borrow R10 000 to fix up the car, which should be no problem considering i have never failed to pay any of my creditors back ever. But no, i go through the process just to be declined for affordability. So thanks Fnb, for wasting my time and not helping me at all.
