Well done FNB the worst bank to currently deal with.
FNB Shocking service
I have been a customer for some time now at FNB and have watched how they have slowly declined to reach a level of shocking.
I have even downgraded my account from private to gold to give you a chance and see how I get treated as the average customer. All I have to say is shocking. I have a standing instruction with FNB to deduct the full amount owed on my Credit Card monthly and usually I pay the full amount long before the amount is due, actually this is done within a couple of days of actually using the card facility. This month I was a bit lazy and did not pay the account manually as I knew that I had instructed FNB through your payment facility to deduct the full amount each month on the 26th. This did NOT happen so this morning I decided that I want to do a quick transaction and seeing my wife has my other accounts card I will use my FNB card. This was when I discovered that not only did FNB not deduct the amount instructed they had that the minimum balance must be deducted and that my card is with collections. I proceeded to transfer the full outstanding balance and called FNB to resolve the matter. I was informed that my account is with the collections department and that I am facing a bad recording on my credit profile.
I can not get hold of your collections as it is a weekend but yet an hour later I get an sms that my account is not paid and I must pay immediately or contact FNB. I called the number and guess what its outside of your banking hours (Saturday morning 09:01) . So now FNB did not honor their obligation and I am left to resolve this. In the meantime on my credit profile I am a bad payer and I am currently in the process of buying a house.
On the note of buying a house FNB would not assist me at all possibly revenge for downgrading from private to gold, possibly because they cant actually do their due diligence or possibly as seeing that I am a client already why should they do anymore. Immediately after this happened I contacted ABSA just to see if there is a problem I was not aware off, who, within a few minutes offered me a pre-approved bond and not understanding why FNB would not assist me as my credit score is a few points below perfect and the only reason it is not higher is that I do not use credit and that I settle all my accounts in full all the time and use cash to often to build a higher score
Now possibly you can see a trend here that all my transactions are not done through FNB and why not, well now you can see. The only major regret I have was downgrading my account and being convinced not to cancel at the time.
As for my current issue I was told to contact complaints to which the final result is that it takes 24-48 Business hours to get back to me so now classed in normal days that would be 3-6 days and at the later extent it will be over a weekend so that means over more than a week to respond to an issue that FNB created. on a weekend day.
The only reason I kept the FNB account is that I have clients that make payments to it and I did not want to inconvenience them and that I linked paypal to my other FNB card. I see that other banks are now offering the facility so the last "convenient" reason to stay with FNB is turning out to be moot.
So instead of going to buy my sons gamming computer as a thank you gist I will be spending my time opening a Capitec account for paypal and informing clients of change of banking details.
