Warning: Do Not Take an FNB Home Loan

I am extremely disappointed with FNB HomeLoans. Every year, without any prior communication, my bond repayment amount has increased — sometimes by over R500! Most recently, my monthly bond jumped from R7,927 to R8,666 without any notification. This sudden increase disrupted my finances and left me scrambling to adjust.

Whenever I contact FNB for an explanation, I am met with rude, unhelpful agents who either have no idea what is happening or tell me that "this is what I signed for." I believe that any reputable bank should inform customers in writing of changes to their repayment amounts, especially such significant ones.

It is clear to me that FNB does not prioritize transparent communication or customer service. I am now actively looking to move my bond to another bank. I strongly urge anyone considering an FNB HomeLoan to reconsider — I would not recommend them to anyone.

Thank you for your response and for logging the complaint.

However, I would like to stress the seriousness of this matter. I have already sent a detailed email with supporting documentation, outlining my concerns about unexplained increases to my home loan repayment and potential overcharging. The recent response I received from your agent offered no clarity or investigation and contradicted your own billing logic.

This issue has had a direct impact on my finances, and I expect proper communication and a transparent review of my bond from inception. I appreciate that the matter is now with the relevant department and hope for timely, meaningful feedback — not a generic response.
I will wait for a resolution, but I remain ready to escalate further if necessary.

You see - Its night time and the agent who said she will send me an email has not and I remember that she said she will email in a few minutes. I think you guys should teach the agents not to lie and be honest if they are not going to send an email. Its better to be told the truth than to be **** to. Its a better customer experience to tell me that I will not receive an email or I do not deserve to be emailed.
