VIRTUAL CARD A JOKE

I have no cooking clue WHY there is a virtual card available, supposedly for our safety when buying on line. PLEASE can you tell me how and why when I've recently made a purchase on line the payment went through without me entering the CVV number or approving it through the app. Where's the safety for your clients?????????????????
