Violation of Registered Mandate Regulations, breach of 10 day tracking , unauthorized access to my account.
I have been experiencing issues with FNB Bank (Aspire Account) after the free banking 6 months period has lapsed. Firstly the charges on the account is R 120 / months with a few basic allowance of limited withdrawals, e-wallets etc. I contested when one particular month they sequenced my first payment made by speed point to Ackermans Store till after the funeral cover was debited and my account fell into a negative balance R 249. They said it's the merchant who did not bank in time hence the payment was not released but was pending. The second instance was the irregular bank charges in the middle of the month. Thirdly was the Lewis tracking payment that ended up reflecting on my account transaction on the 24 of the month as opposed to the last day of the month. The final straw for me was this month when FNB Bank violated the Registered Mandate guidelines and double debited my account 2 premiums on my Funeral Cover after receiving my savings from my employer on the 18th August 2026, mind you I was debited on the first week of the month of August 2026. I tried to dispute these payments on the app to my surprise they are not reflecting under the Debit Orders for the month, 'obviously to avoid disputing. These are many of the under handed tactics of such a prestigious brand that has been trusted for so many years by South Africans. ' Cheap tactics' I subsequently made many attempts to contact the FNB Bank via the app but I was not been connected through as is the norm when complaining. When I eventually got through I was told that I had unsuccessful premiums that warranted tracking my account using Activity Based Payment System and I therefore cannot dispute these payment as they are legitimate. Firstly we have an agreement for the 3rd of every month, Secondly a Registered Mandate allows 10 day tracking only, and thirdly this is not a credit facility agreement to warrant FNB Bank tracking my account as if I owe the bank credit funds due to them and therefore behave in a manner as if this is a joint account. I myself have worked in the Funeral Industry with Doves Corporate and as is the norm after 3 failed premiums the policy is lapsed with an option to reinstate once per specific period (12 or 24 ) months depending on the underwriter rules. I have lost faith in FNB Bank as the recent appointment of CEO's have exposed the strategy of short term gains at any cost to its clients by blatant disregard of regulations, norms and ethical banking practices. Utterly shameful of how low FNB Bank has fallen and I have complained formally but I highly doubt their response will display any form of accountability in this regard. I would highly recommend each person who is currently banking with FNB Bank to review your bank statements and products with the bank and make your own assessment if you are receiving value for money in particular the bank charges and what you where informed you should expect to receive.
Thank you for your response I will await the resolution.
