Very unhappy customer
I have been banking with FNB for more than 10 years - and I have to say I have had my fair share of bad experiences with them, but this was now the final straw. I pay for credit life insurance on my two credit products, specifically to cover the payments should a situation arise where I lose my income.
Well, guess what - I have lost my income due to the COVID-19 lockdown, and FNB has made it impossible to claim. Even though they very publicly state in the media "Claims can only be valid if the client was permanently and formally employed, and has lost their full income for at least a full month." ("FNB credit insurance and "cash flow relief" - What you need to know", MyBroadband, 24 April 2020). I was permanently and formally employed. I have lost my income for more than a full month, since the company I work for can only re-open once we reach Level 2. And yet, FNB ignores my queries about claiming from my insurance. They would rather give me another loan, that I cannot afford, than pay out the insurance that they happily take the premiums for every month.
The time has come to move on to a new bank. One that doesn't have a condescending attitude towards it's clients or treat them like they are stupid.
