Utterly frustrating, uncoordinated and disappointing service

I am extremely disappointed with my recent business with FNB.

A friend recently told me that for a small business account, FNB is great, easy and everything is done online. Other friends also told me that the personal internet banking application is easy, online and quick (a few days tops).

Therefore on 29 June I decided to try and open a business account for my newly registered small business online. I filled out the complete form and right at the end of the form I was told it was unsuccessful (no reason given) and that someone would contact me telephonically.

The next day someone from FNB phoned me so that we could open my account. I answered all the questions, including MY NAME AND SURNAME, CHRISTLE TALJAARD. This was recorded. I definitely gave the surname TALJAARD. However, on 5 July (after two inconveniently delayed CCD courier services) I got my new business card only to find that my surname was FOURIE (my ****en surname) and also, the business number, NOT its name (Christle Clear Lifestyle Solutions) was printed on the card.

I then phoned FNB to try and sort it out online and quickly but was told to go to a branch. On 5 July I received various different Document Requests on email and sent in all the documents immediately. I then went to the Centurion Lifestyle Centre branch on 7 July to sort out the errors on the card. The person helping me told me that it was definitely FNB's fault and I would not have to pay for a new card because the business name error was their fault. He then made me phone the FNB helpline from his desk phone. The helpline assistant went on to insult the branch assistant saying that he was ***********. The branch assistant said that I should never again use their online application service again because there is always a problem or fault with it. He then said he could fix it and order a new card but it would take an hour which I didn't have.

I returned to the branch on 11 July, wanting to be helped by the same assistant but he was not there. I was then helped by someone else. After explaining my situation to her she went on to say that I would have to pay for the card myself because I previously had an account with FNB under my ****en surname. This account was closed years ago. Why should I update my details with a bank I don't have an account with anymore? AND the bank made the mistake with my business name on the card so they should have to replace it. I went on to give her all of my FICA documents (including ID, CIPC business registration, proof of business address, etc.) She also told me never to use the online application system as it never works right. I asked if that was all I had to give her for the account to be open and for everything to be finalised and she said yes. I did not order a new card because I won't pay for a mistake they made.

Since that day I have received at least 3 emails asking for documentation that I already gave her on that day at the branch. It's as if there is no communication between the branches, the online application and the people phoning you to open the account. I am disgusted at how bad the service is and I am very tempted to close the account and open one somewhere else.
