URGENT : Frozen account because FNB did not follow procedure.
Good day, On Thursday evening I noticed that I couldn't transact on my FNB bank accounts. I was eventually informed that this is due to a non compliance status related to KYC.I haven't received a single request, email, phone call or any other notification regarding this. It appears as though FNB has skipped the entire protocol.
I submitted my ID and a signed rental contract. FNB informed me that this is not sufficient and I have to get the rental contract notarized. Myself and baby have relocated to the Netherlands, I arrived on 14 January. I do not have access to my funds. This means that I can't spend any of my funds on necessities, and I am in a foreign country still trying to find my feet.
I would have been glad to comply with any requests FNB had, if I had been afforded sufficient time and information to do so.
I think it is unreasonable to expect me to obtain legal council to notarize a document, yet I don't have any means to pay for this service, nor do I have any clue how to go about doing this in a foreign country. Why is it necessary to submit a notarized rental contract, I don't understand why a signed contract is not sufficient. I have always been a good customer, my accounts are in good standing. Yet this is the treatment I get as a private banker, not to mention that this has not been the first negative experience with FNB. I have not been able to reach my personal banker on the telephone. I cannot spend another morning on the phone with a FNB call center shipped from pillar to post.
Further, I would officially like to request proof of communication to me regarding this documentation/KYC/FICA matter. Please can someone urgently respond with an appropriate resolution.
