Urgent: Estate Matter Outstanding for Over 2 Years – No Resolution from First National Bank

I am extremely disappointed to have to escalate this matter yet again via HelloPeter, as previous attempts to resolve this directly with First National Bank have been unsuccessful.

We have now been attempting for over two years to resolve an estate matter involving funds owed to the deceased estate. Despite notifying the bank of the client’s death, the account in question was not closed, resulting in approximately 19 months of bank charges being incorrectly app****.

To date:

The bank is refusing to provide statements for the account in question, which are required to verify and recover funds owed to the estate. At the same time, the bank has no issue providing statements for a credit card account with a significantly smaller outstanding balance. We only became aware of the funds owed to the estate during the process of attempting to finalise the estate. The bank has now escalated collection efforts on the credit card balance, including legal correspondence, while ignoring the fact that the estate is owed funds that could be offset against this amount.

This lack of cooperation is unacceptable. The estate remains unresolved solely due to the bank’s failure to act responsibly and transparently.

I have made multiple attempts to resolve this through the appropriate channels and have engaged with numerous representatives and managers, none of whom have been able to provide a meaningful resolution.

At this stage, I require:

Immediate release of all relevant account statements. A full reconciliation of the account reflecting charges app**** after date of death. Urgent engagement from a senior decision-maker who has the authority to resolve this matter.

If I am not contacted by a competent representative within 3 business days, I will have no option but to escalate this matter further through formal regulatory and legal channels.

This situation has caused significant delays in winding up the estate and is entirely avoidable had proper procedures been followed.

I trust this matter will now receive the urgent attention it requires.
