Urgent Complaint: Prolonged Blocking of Bakone Ba Phetla CPA Business Account Despite Compliance

Bakone Ba Phetla Communal Property Association (CPA) is totally aggrieved by FNB Business for the continued, unjustified blocking of our business account, despite full compliance with all mandated requirements.

Our account was initially frozen due to issues relating to the change of mandates and signatories. As requested by FNB, we submitted all necessary documentation and updated the account mandates with authorised signatories over 12 days ago. To date, our account remains blocked, with no justifiable explanation or timeline for resolution, There is no court order issued against our organisation to have our account blocked or closed.

As a direct result of this continued restriction:

*Our farm workers have not been paid for almost two months, * *We are in breach of payment obligations to multiple creditors, * Our day-to-day operations have been severely disrupted, * And our community-owned enterprise is now on the brink of collapse due to FNB’s negligence.

Even though Ms. Vuyiseka Nonqana informed us that the matter was “escalated this mornings, there has been no tangible progress, no official communication from FNB Legal, ***** department and absolutely no sense of urgency or care from their team.

It is deeply regretful and unacceptable that as a longstanding client, we are being treated with such disrespect, indifference, and systemic inefficiency. Our association serves rural livelihoods, contributes to local food security, and creates jobs in our community — and yet, FNB’s handling of this matter feels more like a deliberate attempt to sabotage a black-owned community organisation than an administrative delay.

We urgently demand:

1. Immediate unfreezing of our business account, 2. A written confirmation from FNB Legal confirming compliance and status of our mandate update,

We honestly hope Banks like Absa and Nedbank can do a better job than FNB on handling matters of business clients and making sure that from time to time relationship managers and staff communicate with their allocated business clients frequently on issues of reviewing their files for compliance and other account improvements. the fact that we have had this account for more than 8 years and have never engaged with a relationship manager to review or manage our portfolio is alarming, only when they block our account , we hear from relationship managers and business mangers. Sincerely, we hope our Relationship would in improve for the better.

Mr. Phillip Namudi Phetla
