Urgent complaint: Delayed update of Credit Profile post Temp Loan Settlement
I took out a temporary loan with FNB on 3rd February 2025 and called four days later, on 7th February 2025, to settle and close the loan. A consultant assisted me with the settlement, and I specifically requested that my credit profile be updated with the credit bureaus. I was informed that this process would take 31 days.
On 7th March 2025, I followed up and was advised to wait until 10th March 2025. However, after calling again today, I was repeatedly transferred between departments with no clear resolution. Eventually, one agent requested my most recent credit report and stated that a request would be logged with the relevant department, requiring an additional 21 days to process.
It is extremely frustrating that it took FNB just one day to report the temporary loan to the credit bureaus, yet removing it is taking over 60 days. This delay is unacceptable, and the conflicting information provided by your consultants has only added to my frustration. I have already allowed FNB the 31 days initially promised, and I am not willing to wait any longer.
Please escalate this matter immediately and provide a resolution without further delay.

Thank you for allowing us to manage your complaint.
There is currently a delay with bureau updates due to a bureau clean-up project. FNB is doing this clean-up campaign together with all the bureaus to enhance the data qualify and minimize reporting errors.
We have escalated to the different credit bureaus to have their listings updated, however, please expect a delay for the bureau record update as they can take around 20 business days to have the record updated.

I have to say, this response is absolutely unacceptable. You’re telling me about a "bureau clean-up project," but I have no idea what that actually means. Which clean-up project is this, and why has there been no communication to consumers about all the credit bureaus being involved in this?
I gave FNB over 31 days to update my profile, and now you're telling me about this supposed clean-up project? This is completely unacceptable! I’ve been waiting far too long, and it’s incredibly frustrating that FNB is now using this as an excuse for the delay.
I demand more clarity and transparency on this matter. If there has been any communication regarding this clean-up, I expect you to share it with me immediately. I’m not going to accept this lack of accountability any longer.
