Upset FNB Client looking at changing bank account anything but FNB

My family and I have been banking with FNB since before I was born… unfortunately I am currently looking at alternative banks due to my account being frozen without pre-warning. When I contacted FNB after being put through to multiple departments eventually I received the answer that my FICA documents were outstanding. Still managing to maintain calm I submitted everything requested, I was then emailed back to go to home affairs to get a clearance letter as there is something wrong with my ID. I then contacted home affairs and they have no idea what a clearance letter is. I have a valid ID book, ID card, drivers licence and passport yet I must take a day off work and stand in a home affairs queue to get a clearance letter? This is insane. I’ve never missed a payment, I’ve invested all my hard earnings with you FNB surely you can offer better assistance than this?

Hi there I went into the bank today and while I was speaking to a consultant someone online from the complaints department made changes to my account and unfroze it. I cannot tell you what a relief that was it’s been the most anxious 2 days of my life being cut off from all my funds. I have been in communication with Home Affairs and it does seem my ID has been blocked and they cannot tell me why. I appreciate that FNB confirmed my biometrics and all other proof of identification into consideration and unfroze my account. I have been a loyal customer for a very long time. Until I resolve why an ID gets blocked I hope my account will not be frozen again. I have taken extra precautions and moving my salary payment to another bank account until I know for sure the FICA documents are sorted and my account won’t be frozen again. FNB hasn’t sent communication how long they will keep my bank open to get ID sorted
