Unwarranted Fees

Good day,

I noticed over several months on my credit card statements a fee for Declined Auth Fee. Upon enquiry, I discovered this fee is levied when one credit card purchase does not "go through". FNB is not able to provide one with the precise reason for the fee. I recently discovered that, when one punches one's pin into the machine and the pin is incorrect, the machine immediately declines the transaction and a fee is charged.

Is this a valid? ( I am not sure how to describe this situation.. a valid transaction...valid interaction).

The punching of one pin incorrectly, cannot demand an immediate decline in transaction that warrants a penalty/fee. One can understand that a repeat or more than two incorrect punching of the pin ought to result in the decline of the transaction.

I kindly request a reason for this excessive punishment in the form the fees, for punching one pin incorrectly on the machine. Is this fee also app**** in situations were the internet connections break?

Regards
