Unsatisfied and disgusted client of FNB
Complaint *** and ***
Client has a complaint regarding credit card.
I am trying to settle my credit card, but I would have liked some extra discount as I recently lost my dad on Valentine’s day. He committed suicide exactly 7 years to the day my mom also committed suicide. He had a funeral policy with FNB, but it lapsed because he lost his job during covid last year and could not afford to pay for his policies. I had to pay most of the funeral costs myself, out of my kids savings account and I was the only child. I was estranged to my father when I was only 2 and a half years old. On my 29th birthday he looked me up. He moved to Cape Town when he married his wife and went to live with her. He was a truck driver and delivered goods for McDonald Transport to Unilever in Boksburg, where I picked him up and we went for coffee at the Spur close to me. I only met up with him 5 times, but he did call me often but did not tell me he was suffering from depression which I only found out after he committed suicide. He was down in Jet Park visiting his Brother-in-Law, where he committed suicide in his garage. The morning they let me know he was dead I went to Medicross to have an abscess drained and was told that I had to see a General Surgeon to remove the abscess. I made the appointment and that Thursday it was removed, I had to stay overnight, but did not because I had my father’s memorial the Friday. I also needed to fly my Stepmother down on my cost to come identify the body as I was not wanting to see a dead body. I was traumatised enough. After the death of my father, I realised that I need to simplify my life and pay off all my debt so that I do not need to worry about financial situations as well as my mental state. My Father-and-Mother-in-law has been kind enough to loan me money from their pension fund to assist me in settling my debt. It was only enough to settle my 3 personal loans, overdraft and R 100 000.00 of the R 138 000.00 I owed on my credit card. I then reached out to FNB to give me some discount on my credit card, with lots of secure chats and phone calls I still have not had any joy with FNB. On Friday 12 March 2021, after chatting to them from the 3rd of March I got Allan Bossinger as an Agent representing FNB. I am attaching the screenshot regarding my plea for discount on my credit card. He did not have any compassion nor customer service etiquette and did not deal with the situation or offering any comfort that they are doing their best to help me. I do not know where the saying “the customer is always right” gone, but I was brought up and still apply professionalism towards our customers in trying to solve and treat our customers with respect, dignity and leave them feeling that our company is handling the matter in the best interest of the customer. Allan Bossinger surely did not leave me comforted, instead he made me angry and annoyed with him and FNB. I have always recommended FNB to everyone that was interested in moving banks as I have been a customer of FNB from 2004 and my mother use too work in the Property Department (part of the team that developed and built Bank City) of FNB and has also been a loyal customer of FNB when she was alive. I had a BOB account with FNB when I was a child. I am just wondering where the humanity has gone and if customer service still exists.
