Unprofessional / Frustration with FNB
My bank expired 08/21. I had initially call the call center in Swaziland for assistance about renewing my card since I'm currently abroad. They gave me an email associated with customer care and requested me to send supporting documents to help with the card renewal. I further requested a pick~up of the new card in FNB South Africa and pick~up contact information. Up to date, I haven't received any response for the email i sent to them or even about the bank card and I have no access to my finances.

30 Sept 2021, 06:28For a bank that prides itself on banking made easier and convenient, I'm simply dissapointment and exhausted.
After receiving the suggested contact from the bank, I further recieved a call with instructions as to how to go about renewing my card. I was referred to a Whatsapp contact which was supposed to be for easier and effecient communication. I regretted it, no response or responses way late.
Secondly, after waiting for over three weeks assuming I would be recieving a new card, I was mistakenly wrong.
What I was told was that I can't pick-up my card from South Africa and yet the cards are made in South Africa and sent to Swaziland so that blew my mind. Mind you, people in South African can renew their cards via the FNB app and furthermore the bank is furthermore willing to send the card to the owner anywhere in the world at a fee but somehow both options (renewing card via FNB app and sending it to the owner) aren't available for Swaziland. How??
So up to date I have no card nor access to my funds, as I was told as of last my card is still not available or having been issued since its a different type of card thus they will work on issuing the card from South Africa to Swaziland and then they will inform me when the card arrives in Swaziland. After that I have to write a letter with details of the one who would pick-up the card on my behalf. Then basically I have to figure out a way as to how I get that card to my location (Taiwan).
I think getting something as simple as bank card shouldn't be so tedious and time consuming. It is supposed to be a simple transction between bank and card owner. Whats the use of having a bank card thats just pain and heartache once outside the country? As is most of my countrymate in Taiwan opt not to even renew their cards after they expire because they claimed it was too much of a struggle.
I, myself can attest to that it is to much of a hustle for such a simple service.
Basically it's ben over a month and week of just emails and communication that yielded no results. I have no bank card and no idea when I will have one.
And interestingly enough my old bank card was functionally and intact it just "expired" deactivated. Woulndn't just reactivating it be an easier solution?
This has been time consuming and exhausting.
