UNPROFESSIONAL CONSULTANTS

Good day

I have visited FNB in the Phoenix Plaza on 20 March 2020 at approximately 14:35. I had accompanied my fiancee as she had a query regarding her personal account. We took a number and was seated. Ashton Gabriel, one of the consultants from FNB Phoenix Plaza asked us to wait and he will assist us. We waited for about 45 minutes for him to assist us. As he was assisting my fiancee with her bank account, he asked me if I wanted to open a business account, I rep**** that I don't want to open a business account as my business is closed and not generating any type of income. He kept on insisting that I must open the account. He proceeded on opening the account. He told me that if I don't use the account, I can leave it unused for 3 months and it will close automatically. I did advise him that I'm currently studying and I don't have any source of income. He also added a Value added service, Law on call Plan, which I told him that I don't want, he added it and made sure I had it on the account. He made sure that the account was open and he made me sign the documents. He told me that if I have any queries, I can contact him on his personal number. As I am studying a full time course and due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, I hadn't been able to visit the bank to raise this issue.

He also told me that I must put huge sums of capital in the business account and I must come back after 6 months so that he can offer me a business loan. I told him that this won't be possible as I don't take loans.

On 20 October 2020 at 15:26, I received a call from the attorneys that my account had been handed over for the amount of R2719.60 owing on the account.

I did contact Ashton Gabriel on 20 October 2020 at 15:29, he told me that he can't help me in any way. He told me that I should come in to the bank and see his manager. He doesn't have any customer service skills. After he opens an account that you didn't want, he denies any help that you request.

Ashton Gabriel traps young adults and force them to open a business account so that he can get his commission. He advises the customer that they can leave their accounts open for 3 months and not pay and the account will close on it's own.

I would never recommend FNB to any of my friends and family.

If FNB doesn't resolve this issue by settling my account within 7 days of this notice, I will seek the help of a Commercial Lawyer to sue FNB!
