Unnecessary block on my bank account
I am extremely dissatisfied with the service received and deeply frustrated and disappointed by FNB's refusal to grant me access to the funds received from SARS following my 2023 tax year submission. On 28/02/2023, SARS deposited funds into my FNB Private Client cheque account. When I attempted to access the funds, I was informed that my account was blocked and that I needed written correspondence from my Debt Review administrator to remove the block due to my enrollment in Debt Review. I obtained the necessary email correspondence from my Debt Review administrator as instructed by FNB on 29/02/2024. Despite assurances that the account block would be lifted and I would have access to my account by 11:00 am, the account remained blocked past the promised time. Upon inquiry, I was informed that my case had been escalated to the ***** department as part of a standard bank procedure to withhold funds for 48 hours before they can be accessed. The ***** department stated they could verify the source of the funds without requiring proof of deposit, despite my offer to provide my SARS account statement. They assured me that the funds would be released after the 48-hour period, expected to end on 04/03/2024. To my dismay, on 04/03/2024, I was informed that I had been intentionally misled by FNB officials at the Zevenvacht branch, specifically Ms. Elisma. I had borrowed money from family to address urgent payments, promising repayment by 04/03/2024 based on FNB's assurances. The branch had initiated a secret ***** enquiry with SARS to verify the recent deposit on my account, leading to further delays. FNB requested feedback from SARS and advised me to contact SARS to expedite the process. However, SARS informed me that their ***** enquiry has a 90-business day SLA, causing significant financial uncer*****y and hardship. This unnecessary delay has not only subjected me to financial strain but has also impacted my relationships with family and friends who lent me money under the assumption that I would repay them by 04/03/2024. I demand immediate action to release my funds and a formal apology from FNB for the misinformation provided. Failure to address this promptly will compel me to escalate the matter through regulatory authorities
