Unhappy about a closed account

I closed my bank account 2years back and since then i never even received a statement. what is shocking is that last weekend i received a call from MBD telling me that my account was handed over to them for collection, for what i dont know because i closed the account and FNB never contacted me about any outstanding amounts on my account.
