I saw an unexpected transaction amount in my Smart account. When I queried this, I was told it was an automatic payment for my credit card debt. I was told that if I do not pay within seven working days before the due date, my account is automatically debited. How can you debit someone's account before the due date? Not only that, but I had paid more than the minimum payment already, so why this debit? Then I did some further digging and it seems FNB has unilaterally brought forward my due date from what it was for two years by one to two weeks. How can FNB do this? Please fix this mess.
