Undue bank charges by FNB Private Wealth

I am an FNB Private Wealth account holder.

Firstly I have been requesting for my account to be downgraded for the past two years as I am no longer qualifying in the bracket that they have put me in. Further more I do not get any benefits from FNB by being a black card holder except for accessing local lounges and a few savings on transcations here and there instead I am faced with high bank charges which are for the bank's benefit. I was told that the account cannot be closed because I made arrangements to pay off an overdraft that I had with the bank. I finished paying the overdraft last year already but I am still kept on the status of private wealth for the benefit of FNB. In January this year I requested again to be downgraded, the bank sent me the pricing options of a gold card but my account is still on private wealth with high bank charged to date.

Secondly in December I transacted twice on my account using my bank card, I had enough money for the transactions and my balance was reduced by the amount of the transactions made on the dates. Two weeks later I was charged R360 for the three transactions @ R120 per transcation and when I called in I was told that by the time the merchant banked there was no money in my account. The money referred to by FNB above was already deducted at point of sale and its was in the hands of FNB or the merachant. I then get unduly charged R120 per transaction because their merchant banked a week or two later than the day I transacted. In January the same thing happened and I was charged R480, now in February I have been charged another R360. The total of these amounts in a space of two months is R1400. This excludes normal bank charges and other service fees.

This is day light ******* by FNB, clearly the clients they are servicing in that income bracket do not pay attention but I do because I do not qualify to be in it anyway.

I experienced this on my FNB business account but upon noticing and lodging a complaint my money was reversed back into my account.

I will be taking this matter up with the relevant institutions and will be closing my account with FNB which they are refusing to close at the moment claiming that I owe them the money that they stole from my account.
