Unavailable funds
I've been waiting for a payment from Botswana, and received the proof of payment which shows that the transfer was done from Stanbic Bank Botswana at 15:45:19 CAT on 07 December 2017 and accepted by FNB South Africa at 11:03:08 CAT on 08 December 2017. At 15:39 on Friday 8 December 2017 I received an SMS notifying me to log into my online banking and release the funds.
At around 16:20 or so I stopped at the first town I got (I was driving when the SMS came through) and did as requested. The status of the funds then changed to "Submitted to bank". Today I went to FNB Vryburg to try and get the funds cleared. I stood at the entrance for over five minutes while the lady who's supposed to give me a number chatted to her friend. When she finally came to me, she asked for my identification (after I introduced myself as a Private Client and explained my problem), took it and went to one of the service desks. Eventually, another lady came to tell me that I should approach the one who had my ID. I was made to speak to a Forex consultant who was very disrespectful towards me. He said the delay was due to the fact that I said the funds were an inheritance (which I didn't say). Ultimately I asked to speak to his manager, who told me that there's nothing they can do as I accepted the funds after business hours (16:00, 21 minutes after I received the SMS).
To cut a long story short, FNB doesn't care how badly I need the funds, or what the implications are of not having the funds in my account. They "will investigate" and revert to me on Monday 11 December 2017, and the funds will be cleared "when they get a chance" to do so.
She also couldn't explain why the payment received on 13 November 2017 from Botswana went through me without having to accept the payment whereas this one required me to do so.
I'll just have to wait for God FNB to one day decide to release the funds; in the meantime my wife and children will suffer; but that's not FNB's concern.
FNB, you've treated me like ******* before but it won't happen again.
